The annual meeting was held on Thursday Jan 12 at 6 PM at Lake Miona Recreation Center. The meeting consisted of a Pot luck dinner, an overview of the past year, plans for 2012, announcements of scholarships, and the election of new board members. Welcome to the website of Michigan State University’s fastest growing Regional Alumni Club in Florida. Founded in 2007 and chartered in February of 2008, THE VILLAGES AREA MSU ALUMNI CLUB, today numbers over 280 members and growing. The Club draws Spartan Fans from The Villages as well as many surrounding communities.The club is for alumni and friends. While dedicated to promoting and supporting the mission of Michigan State University and MSUAA, the Club actively provides many opportunities for fellow Spartans to enjoy social, athletic, cultural and charitable events together.
Our Annual Activities Calendar provides for monthly social gatherings, football and basketball game watches, tailgate parties, social and dance nights on The Villages’ Squares, group attendance at area entertainment events, golf outings including our Annual MSU vs. Penn State golf challenge and support of worthy local charitable organizations. In addition we have had the honor of hosting several MSU leaders & dignitaries including President Lou Anna K. Simon.
We are extremely proud of the establishment of our MSUAA recognized Educational Scholarship Fund. Scholarship money is raised at our Annual Scholarship Dinner-Show and Auction along with donations from Club Members. The Club was pleased to have awarded our first Scholarship in 2009. In 2011 two $500 scholarships went to two local middle schools.
