Fair winds to you Spartans,
This is the time of year when a large portion of us travel outside our present homes. At least for Sharon and me those travels help us renew and remember the good times before we became Villages Area residents. It also is a time to appreciate the “outside world”. However, all that also serves as a further reinforcement to the choice we made to become Area people. Being away crystallizes for us how sweet life around here is. God Speed in your travels.
On May 14th, The Board and the Grants Committee had the opportunity to meet with six gifted and dedicated teachers from Lake County. We awarded grants to each for:

- Mike Kozierowski to buy a large screen computer monitor that will enable his autistic and disabled students to be taught simultaneously.
- Kimberly Frazier & Amy Hunter to launch a non-fiction literacy challenge that will expand reading horizons for their middle schoolers.
- Kim Royal & Kyle Bracewell to initiate a fun reading day that will recognize 8th grade achievements.
- Beth Bibson to give hands-on experimentation and analysis through 15 experiments on variables to her science students.
- Jennifer Keller to begin an on-going involvement to her 7th graders on hydroponic gardens that will expose them to alternate methods thinking and to literally taste the results of their efforts.
- Kevin Von Maxey will furnish a literacy cafe for informal gatherings for his students to discuss literacy techniques, meanings and lessons.
As you know, this is the result of our fashion show, golf bag sales and previous fund raising activities. I wish each of you could have been there to see these teachers passion for their work and their dedication to the kids. Please take my word for it that you should smile and be proud that we did substantial good. Our personal thanks to the Grants Committee:
